Mental Health Support Group for Family and Friends
This free support group provides resources to people with loved ones living with mental illness.
Presented by Sharp Grossmont Hospital
This free support group provides education and resources to people with loved ones living with a mental illness. Your loved one does not need to be a patient with Sharp Grossmont Hospital for you to attend this support group. This support group is open to the entire community.
When someone is living with a serious mental illness, their family and friends may also be affected.
At Sharp Grossmont Hospital, we understand that facing mental illness in a loved one can be confusing and challenging. Our Family and Friends Support Group provides support, education and resources to help people with loved ones who are living with a mental illness.
Participants will learn about mental illness and what to expect based on their loved one’s specific diagnosis. The group provides a safe environment for patient caregivers, family members and support people to ask questions and share their experiences. Participants also learn healthy ways to help their friend or family member, as well as what resources are available.
Registration is not required prior to attending. If you have a question or concern, please contact the program manager by providing your name and email address in the "Learn More" box above. Someone will contact you within two business days.
Parking Information
We will provide parking validation for attendees.
Special Instructions
Since this is a support group for family and friends, your loved one who has a mental illness is not allowed to attend. This is important, as the group is not designed to do any kind of intervention for the patient; it is designed to help family and friends help their loved ones.
Presenter Information
Cindy Loeb, LCSW, is a therapist at Sharp Grossmont Hospital's Behavioral Health Center in the Intensive Outpatient Program.
Schedule
The support group will be held every Wednesday from 4pm-5pm, beginning Feb. 7, 2024.
