Presented by Sharp HealthCare
Volunteer aboard the USS Midway and help keep the historical ship clean and free from rust. Duties - FOD Walks. These are named after traditional military FOD Walks where sailors physically inspect and clean the flight deck of any foreign objects that could cause damage to the aircraft or personnel when blown by rotors or sucked into engines. On the Midway, our FOD Walks involve cleaning out the pad eyes, which collect a lot of dirt from everyday activity on the ship. A USS Midway staff member will be on hand to direct you to the areas that need cleaning.
This project will give you the opportunity to spend time aboard, learn about the history of Midway, and help keep the ship clean for museum guests from all over the world. There will be a group photo at the end of the event.

How do I obtain a Sharp Lends a Hand T-shirt?
The Sharp Lends a Hand T-shirts are not event-specific, so if you have volunteered in a past event, you don't need to obtain another T-shirt. If you are volunteering for the first time, you may pick up your T-shirt at Spectrum by going to the second floor and following the signs to the T-shirt location. We have sizes ranging from child medium to adult XXXL.
The Spectrum building is open from 6 am to 6 pm and you must have your Sharp ID for access into the building. If you cannot come to Spectrum, please arrange to have a Sharp employee pick one up for you. Unfortunately, we cannot interoffice mail the shirts.
Can I bring my children?
Sharp HealthCare encourages you to bring your family to our volunteer events whenever possible. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult at all times. To obtain a community service certificate for your child’s school, please email Sharp Lends a Hand after the event.
For more information, please review the USS Midway FAQs page on SharpNET (employee access only) or email Sharp Lends a Hand.
