Introduction to Heartmate Basics 2025

This class will cover basic principles of left ventricular assist device (LVAD) function, troubleshooting and patient care for Sharp Memorial employees.
At the completion of this course, you will be able to:
- State basic principles of heart failure
- Understand the design and operation of HeartMate II and HeartMate 3
- Identify HeartMate II and HeartMate 3 equipment
- Identify operating alarms and the corrective measures
Please note that this is the in-person, hands-on didactic portion of the class. You must complete the HeartMate Basics Online Learning Module online in Workday before attending.

Parking Information
Parking is available in parking structures located on Frost Street, on Health Center Drive or in front of Sharp Mary Birch. Parking fees may apply. Due to construction, follow signage for patient drop-off and pickup. Patient drop-off will be at the east entrance roundabout off Frost Street. Patient pickup will be on Level 2 of the Frost Street parking structure.
