This is an in-person class designed for busy couples who want the basic facts about childbirth preparation in one day.
Topics covered in this course include:
- How your body prepares for birth and delivery
- Hospital procedures
- Medication choices
- Brief overview of coping skills
- Cesarean delivery
- Postpartum

Parking Information
Parking is available in the lot surrounding the building. You will receive a voucher for free parking during class.

Student observation: If you are not an expectant parent and need to observe a class, approval must be obtained prior to attendance. Please be advised that any paid registration for observation purposes will not be refunded. To obtain approval, please call 1-800-82-SHARP (1-800-827-4277) and you will be referred to the appropriate location.
Presenter Information
This class is taught by a certified perinatal educator.
Arrival
Please do not attend if you have any symptoms of illness.
If you are attending the class at Sharp Grossmont Hospital for Women & Newborns, all visitors age 18 and older are required to present a government-issued photo ID upon arrival.
What to Bring
- We encourage you to have a support person with you at the class.
- Please bring two pillows and a blanket.
- This is a long class and frequent breaks will be provided. Please bring water and snacks. Also, it’s a good idea to pack your lunch, so you won’t have to go far during your break. The facility has a refrigerator and a microwave if you need it.
