Baby Care Basics In-Person Class
First-time parent? This in-person class will take the guesswork out of newborn care.

At this in-person class, you will learn all the basic baby care you need to know before heading home with your newborn. We will practice diapering, dressing and swaddling baby dolls. Other topics covered include:
- Basic infant care
- Characteristics of a newborn
- Infant nutrition
- Signs and symptoms of illness
- Crying
- Bathing
- Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS)
- Basic car-seat safety

Parking is available in the lot surrounding the building. You will receive a voucher for free parking during class.

- Student Observation: If you are not an expectant parent and need to observe a class, approval must be obtained prior to attendance. Please be advised that any paid registration for observation purposes will not be refunded. Classes are taught by a certified perinatal educator.
Arrival

If you are attending the class at Sharp Grossmont Hospital for Women & Newborns, all visitors age 18 and older are required to present a government-issued photo ID upon arrival.
Course Recommendations
We recommend that you take this class 3-4 weeks before your due date.
