Sharp Memorial Hospital is located in San Diego, California. Our emergency room is a convenient option for those living and working in Kearny Mesa, Clairemont, Tierrasanta and surrounding communities.

Our emergency team includes highly trained physicians, nurses, social workers and other support staff committed to helping you along the road to recovery.

And we're uniquely certified to provide care for older adults, as accredited by the American College of Emergency Physicians, so you can rest easy knowing you and your loved ones are in good hands.

We offer the following programs and services at Sharp Memorial Hospital Emergency Room:

• Advanced diagnostic images with 64-view CT scanner located in the Emergency and Trauma Center

• Cardiac and stroke center with dedicated equipment and specially trained staff

• Care for up to four trauma patients at a time, and another 52 private patient-care rooms

• Lab tests performed in the center for faster results

• Treat patients quickly with a fast-track assessment system

• X-rays are taken in the center's dedicated radiological suites

Call 911 or visit the nearest emergency room if you are experiencing a medical emergency, including:

• Chest pain or pressure

• Confusion or difficulty speaking

• Fever with stiff neck

• Fracture (with bone protruding)

• Head injury

• Moderate to severe shortness of breath

• Severe abdominal pain

• Sudden dizziness or change in vision

• Uncontrolled bleeding

We do not offer emergency room reservations. However, using our "On my way" feature, you can provide preliminary check-in details and alert us you're coming. This helps minimize your check-in time and prepares our team for your arrival.

Click the "I'm on my way" button near the top of this page before you visit the emergency room. After choosing an estimated arrival time, you'll submit a form detailing your information and symptoms.

We do our best to expedite check-in, but wait times may increase when patients with more life-threatening conditions must be treated first.

The Cushman Emergency and Trauma Center at Sharp Memorial Hospital works in conjunction with the Emergency Department. It is staffed by a highly skilled team of board-certified trauma surgeons, specialty nursing staff and support staff who provide the highest level of care for critically ill and injured patients 24 hours a day.
